LOLER

The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998

Safe lifting operations depend on the integrity of the lifting equipment and accessories that are used.  Whether this be a passenger lift in an office, a tower crane on a construction site or any other item of plant or machinery that lifts, lowers or supports a load. The responsibility for this safety is on the owner and the user of the equipment and part of their duty under LOLER reg 9 is to have it independently examined and this will produce the report of thorough examination.

PSSR

The Pressure systems Safety Regulations 2000

The Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 (PSSR) cover the safe design and use of pressure systems. The aim of PSSR is to prevent serious injury from the hazard of stored energy (pressure) as a result of the failure of a pressure system or one of its component parts.

All vessels that fall under PSSR require by law a thorough examination and a written scheme of examination.
